Gilberto S. Ocañas is Senior Advisor to Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, and CEO of Ocañas Group, a public affairs communications consulting firm. Gilberto has built a reputation as a trusted advisor to a national network of political and business relationships through his strategic collaboration and coalition building. His successful record as an entrepreneur and political advisor beginning as a grassroots organizer to rising to serve in senior levels in numerous national campaigns has served him well to develop strategies for businesses navigating governmental and community terrain.

Ocañas experience in turning a start-up business in 1992 into a successful security printing and fulfillment company serving the Texas Lottery has given him insights into key small business issues in governmental contracting. The success of his business enterprise, coupled with his commitment to maintain a strong civic presence continues today helping develop new business and political leaders.

Gilberto currently serves on the board of Mi Familia Vota, a non-partisan voter engagement organization targeting Latino families, as well as the New Deal Leaders organization featuring the top innovative elected leaders throughout the country. He is also on the Board of Directors of the US Spain Business Council and the Environmental Defense Fund Texas Advisory Board.  In the past he has served on the National Advisory Boards of the Resolution Trust Corporation, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the U.S. Secretary of Energy and the Smithsonian Task Force on Latino Affairs. He is a graduate of the University of Houston.
