Today, I write to urge you to support Latino Public Broadcasting and all of the Latino filmmakers and artists we champion. Last week LPB proudly announced the recipients of this year’s Public Media Content Fund which include eight films and three digital media projects. This year’s projects truly represent the powerful vision of our filmmakers and the richness of our Latino culture – from the Napa vineyards to the barrios of the Bronx, from a portrait of a Rhode Island maid-turned-councilwoman to stories that explore the human realities behind our ongoing battle over immigration.
Documentaries speak truth and give voice to much-needed perspectives often over-looked or under-reported by mainstream media. LPB is a positive wall for truth – a bulwark – that is solid, resilient and above all else, makes sure that our stories and our concerns ring out loud and clear across national media platforms.
Right now, it is increasingly hard to tell fact from fiction, and Latino issues and concerns are at the epicenter of cultural and political divides. The work LPB does to bring hard-hitting stories that impact Latino Americans to the forefront of our national conversation is more important now than ever before.
• If you believe we need a voice of reason that shines a bright light on our stories.
• If you believe we need to engage and activate informed dialogue about critical issues that impact Latinos.
• If you believe in the rich diversity, remarkable talent and lasting contributions of Latinos to our nation’s multicultural mosaic, then please make a contribution to LPB today. No contribution is too small, and every contribution gives us strength.
Please stand with us and make your voice heard. It will help all Latino Americans in these divisive times. Donate now!.
