This year, LPB presented a film by the talented filmmaker Ben DeJesus called LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACCIÃ’N that looks at the contributions of Latinos in the entertainment industry. It also looks toward our future by giving voice to talented young artists who are dedicated to transforming our industry.
Seeing our stories on screen is crucial. Tanya Saracho, the creator of the acclaimed show VIDA says in the film, “Not seeing yourself represented is not just an offense, it’s really malicious, because entertainment – the media – changes perception and that affects policy.” But claiming our seat at the table continues to be an uphill battle and one that LPB is determined to keep fighting.
We at LPB are dedicated to supporting Latino talent and giving them a platform to share their stories. We’re proud to say that among the many young talents we’ve supported is Marvin Lemus, creator of the hit Netflix series GENTIFIED; one of his first films was presented by LPB. I hope you’ll consider joining us by making a contribution today. No amount is too small. Every dollar helps us nurture the next generation of talent and paves the way for a more equitable future.
Thank you,
