Truly CA, KQED’s showcase for the best documentaries about the Golden State, features a film each month on selected Sundays at 6pm on KQED TV, with repeats on KQED’s other digital channels and Comcast Video on Demand.
The deadline to submit your feature-length documentary to Truly CA Season Eight has been announced: Entries must arrive at KQED by Monday, January 9, 2012 at 5pm — this is not a postmark deadline.
Truly CA is looking for well-crafted stories featuring compelling characters — stories that are provocative, passionate, and unforgettable. Not only do we want well-told stories, we’re interested in well-made films — works that are both thought-provoking and eye-opening. Truly CA films must be about California in some way — not just taking place in California. The films must also be primarily shot in California, and preferably made by California’s talented, independent, documentary filmmakers.
Get more information and download the application at Call for Entries.
Filmmakers! If you hope to distribute your program nationally through PBS, please take note of an important change to their Technical Requirements. Download the requirements at pbs.org. As of March, 2011, all films must be delivered on HDCam. If you did not shoot in HD, you must upconvert prior to delivery. Please refer to the PBS Red Book at pbs.org.
